Effective April 3, 2025, Spain has officially terminated its Golden Visa program, which previously granted residency to non-EU citizens in exchange for significant financial investments. Under the former scheme, applicants could obtain a renewable residence permit through a minimum investment of €500,000 in real estate, €1 million in bank deposits or shares, or €2 million in public debt.
Current Status and Alternatives:
With the program’s conclusion on April 3, 2025, no new applications are being accepted.
Non-EU citizens seeking residency in Spain may now explore alternative pathways, such as:
- The Non-Lucrative Visa: Designed for individuals who can demonstrate sufficient financial means to support themselves without engaging in work or professional activities in Spain.
- Work-Based Residency Permits: Available to those with qualifying employment or professional engagements in the country.
Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to consult with a qualified Spanish immigration lawyer to obtain the most current guidance on available residency options.
